Temporary Administrator Access via Self-Service

For installation of applications, settings changes, etc

The purpose of Admin On-Demand is to limit administrative privileges to the limited times when you truly need it, thus vastly limiting the reach of many forms of modern malware and viruses.

  1. Open the Manager application (NCS Crest) located in your dock.
    1. If you are prompted to enter login credentials, restart the application by selecting Manager in the top menu bar and clicking Quit Manager, then reopen it. This should bypass the sign-in window.
    2. If you are prompted with Class Manager, click the Class Manager button in the top-left corner of the Manager window and select Self-Service.
  2. In the Self-Service window, select the Admin On-Demand tab on the left.
  3. Click Request Admin Now.
  4. Enter a justification for your request (e.g., “Installing XYZ application”) and click Continue.
  5. Click Continue again after reviewing the disclaimer.
  6. You should receive a notification confirming that your local user privileges have been temporarily elevated to Administrator. Your account will retain administrative privileges for 5 minutes before reverting to standard access.
