National Cathedral School App Subscriptions (2024-2025) and
Link to Request Form (and notes about domain change to ncs.org)
National Cathedral School subscribes to a number of apps for teachers and students to use in the classroom. Please consult this list for information on how to access the tool and notes about how the subscription has been impacted by our migration to ncs.org.
Your favorite app or one you learned of through your professional network might not be listed here. We have limited funds to provide additional personal subscriptions. While we will not be able to honor all requests, we will work with you to find a meaningful solution to your needs. We may also consult with your department chair and/or division head when making decisions. Approval of a subscription for one academic year does not guarantee funds for subscription renewals in subsequent years. You may submit multiple requests.
Student data privacy continues to be a priority as we use apps that collect personal information and other student data. Please submit a tech ticket to consult with a member of the tech team about new apps you are considering for your classroom. Please also note that we may be limiting the ability for students to post and share information publicly when using apps managed by the school. In these cases, students can only share with other members of the school community who also have accounts to the app being used.
We also own licenses to iPad apps not listed here. Please submit a tech ticket if you have questions about iPad apps for your classroom.

SHARING CONTENT: Push out content for students to view, hear, and engage.
LS MS US |
| |
US MS LS | Loom screen & video recorder for education, https://www.loom.com/education Teachers can record screencasts that have students viewing any browser window. Links are immediately available to share to MyNCS.
| |
LS MS *US | Educreations screen recorder for iPad
| |
LS MS | Apple Classroom Teachers can use the Apple Classroom app to immediately view students' screens and push open specific sites and apps on students' iPads while in class.
| |
LS MS US | Edpuzzle, https://edpuzzle.com/ Teachers upload or use streaming videos and insert questions within the video to check for understanding. Want the students to just watch a 90-second segment of a longer YouTube video? You can also trim streaming video to desired segments. Edpuzzle can also be used to create links to YouTube videos free of ads.
|
COLLECTING STUDENTS’ WORK: Gather daily and weekly assignments via a consistent collection place and mode.
MS US | MyNCS assignment "File Submission" Please consider this as your primary file submission choice if possible as it timestamps and verifies submission in the students’ view. Even if you choose to use another app to collect students’ work, enabling file submission for your assignment would provide students the ability to have a “backup” in case of tech issues with the alternative app.
LS MS US | Microsoft Forms (not Forms Quiz) Students can submit Word docs, Excel, PDFs, PPT, audio, video files of multiple sizes. Submitted files end up in private folder in teachers' OneDrive account. Teachers can set submissions to stop at specific date and time.
LS MS US | Edpuzzle (also linked above in Sharing Content)
| |
LS MS US | OneDrive file request Students submit their PPT, Word, audio, and video files to class or individual folders shared with their teachers.
|
ASSESSMENT AND FEEDBACK: Use two key types, formative and summative, to support students’ progress.
Formative: These tools help students see feedback that supports their growth, but do not serve effectively for major assessments.
LS MS US | Great tool for quick-check understanding. Multiple-choice questions can be automatically graded and students can submit files, which are deposited in teachers’ OneDrive accounts. Teachers can remark on each question and provide summative remarks at the end of the quiz. To view results, students click the same link they accessed when taking the quiz. This tool should only be considered for quick and short quizzes; student progress is not saved as they complete a Forms Quiz. Please consider MyNCS assessments or DigiExam if you desire the students’ work to be trackable.
LS MS US | Students use mobile device (phone, iPad) camera to "scan" images to PDF and save them to their OneDrive folder. Teachers can then open the PDF and use the embedded mark-up tools to write feedback directly on students’ images. Alternatively, teachers can print student work, mark-up as they normally would with pen/pencil, and generate a PDF to share back to students through OneDrive.
LS MS US | Students can reply synchronously and asynchronously to a question, image, or video the teacher provides.
|
Summative: These tools will help you capture students’ whole assessments with a timestamp and use a rubric to grade work and provide longer feedback to students.
MS US | MyNCS assignment "File Submission" and annotation Teachers can annotate submitted files directly within MyNCS and return to students. Students’ grades appear directly within the MyNCS gradebook.
MS US | MyNCS assessments. Set time limits, number of attempts, and allow retakes to meet various assessment needs for your course.
MS US | Proctoring teachers can lock down student devices during a proctored exam at school. Student works is constantly backed up. When administered on campus, students’ devices are locked into the exam and other are disabled. Teachers can grade electronically or print and annotate. Also usable as a tool to capture students’ responses without locking down student devices.
|
STUDENT WORK, PROJECTS & PORTFOLIOS: Enable students to show their process, progress, drafts, and decisions.
LS MS US | Word, PPT, Excel, and OneNote enable students to record data, map, and write out their daily work and projects.
US | Students can use Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, XD, Dreamweaver, Dimension, and Lightroom to create images, videos, 3D renderings, web sites, and illustrations.
| |
LS MS US | Adobe Express (formerly Adobe Spark), https://www.adobe.com/express/ Adobe visual tools enable students to create collages, images, posters, web pages, or video to represent their thinking, their process, their valuable errors and re-directs, and overall work (process-portfolio).
| |
LS | Students use this portfolio tool to complete daily assignments and create artifacts over time. Students write and record audio, video explanations of their process from zero to fully iterated artifact/project. Students record journal and blog entries to mark milestones and publish their steps.
LS MS US | Create assignments that will be duplicated for each student on a roster. Students can annotate and respond on their copies for teachers to view and comment live through a dashboard. Also useful for generating exit tickets.
