Google Groups: Creating a "group" to email

Created by Lily Rowny, Modified on Fri, 11 Jul, 2025 at 5:37 PM by Frances O'Connor

You might need to send emails to a group of contacts. To do this easily, you can create distribution lists in your contacts.

To create a distribution list in your personal gmail, do the following:

  1. Have the list of emails you would like to add (optional but helpful for the next steps)

  2. Go to contacts.google.com

  3. On the top left click " + create contact" and select "create multiple contacts

  4. A pop up appears, either paste your emails from your list or add people you want on the list

  5. Where it says "no label" click and create a label "Distribution group Name"

  6. Once you made sure you added the names AND created the label you want for that group, click create

* You can always add or remove emails for each label.
